Wrinkle Relaxing treatments

A vial of 'Toxin'

When thinking about having wrinkle relaxing injections, you should consider who is going to administer the treatment, whether they have been appropriately trained and insured? Few doctors actually know how to administer Botulinum injections correctly; at the Bloomfield Clinic in Ayrshire, Dr Cormac has a Masters Degree in Aesthetic Medicine and teaches others in techniques and safety procedures and. He is fully qualified to use Botulinum toxins for facial rejuvenation and will both provide an overall assessment and advise on the achievement of facial harmony with the treatment. We use only the best available products.

Based on a special assessment of your anatomy and drawing on his extensive experience, Dr Cormac will carefully select the correct dose of product to subtly reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines. Knowing the exact  location of the muscles we wish to relax ensures that you get the results you crave. Some people may request “the frozen look” which is a recognised and acceptable option. We recommend the natural look, and after 3 - 4 days you will be starting to enjoy a smoother, rejuvenated face.

Q & A’s

What are Botox, Azzalure & Bocouture?

They are examples of Botulinum Toxin.

These prescription medications are used in small doses to temporarily reduce facial wrinkles around the mouth, forehead and eyes.

Dr Cormac can also use Botulinum Toxin for treatment of Hyperhidrosis (Excessive sweating).

Are Wrinkle Relaxing Treatments safe?

Yes. The actual treatment of injecting Botulinum should be undertaken by a trained and licensed medical practitioner to ensure that you receive the ultimate results in a controlled and safe environment.

The product is actually a prescribed medicine and as such has undergone stringent testing and is of the highest purity.

How does it actually work?

The active ingredient targets specific muscles, reducing their ability to contract. This helps abolish dynamic wrinkles and reduce static lines.

What does the treatment actually involve?

At the Bloomfield Clinic you will receive a consultation prior to the treatment taking place when we will explain exactly what will happen and what you can expect.  A very fine needle with just the right amount of Botox, Azzalure or Bocouture is used ensuring pain is minimal.  You will not routinely require any local anaesthesia however we have local anaesthetic cream available. Applying ice before and after can also help reduce any discomfort.

How long will the treatment take?

We place the utmost importance on assessing your expectations, understanding and suitability prior to treatment and this usually takes about half an hour.

A treatment will then take 5 - 15 minutes depending on the number of areas to be treated.

How long does it take for the treatment to take effect?

It usually takes about 3-4 days after your treatment before you will start to see any changes, the full effects obvious in about a week.

How long do the effects last?

The effects of Botox, Azzalure & Bocouture usually last between three and four months although everyone is different.

Are there any side effects to Botox, Azzalure & Bocouture?

Side effects can include upset stomach, headache, flu-like symptoms and pain or bruising at the injection site. You may experience some loss of expression and injections to the face can cause temporary drooping eyelids.

You can minimise side effects by ensuring that your treatment is given by a medical practitioner qualified to treat your particular symptom. You can be safe in the knowledge that you are being treated by a specially trained doctor.

Are there any contraindications for having Botox, Azzalure & Bocouture?

You should not have a treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Please inform Dr Cormac if there is any chance you could be pregnant.

Do Botulinum toxin injections always work?

In order to get the best from these treatments it is important to carefully choose your practitioner and be confident that they are using a premium product. While it is impossible to guarantee the effect created, having a practitioner who you can trust will ensure that they will do their best to get the desired effect. It is possible that at review, you may require a top-up treatment to certain areas. Our experience is that Dr Cormac will only occasionally have to top-up the treatment. It also helps to know how you respond to treatment and Dr Cormac will carefully document your response so that we can tailor your treatment even better in the future.

If you are being offered a cheap price elsewhere, please be aware that you may be receiving an inferior product or possibly very low doses of product. Some practitioners will then seek to charge large sums for a top-up.

Remember that results achieved are also down to the skill of the practitioner administering the injection. Treatment must be given into the right muscles at the right dose. You can be safe in the knowledge that Dr Cormac is not only a Doctor, but is a Clinical Lecturer and trainer in Aesthetic Medicine.
